ABOUT
Hello, my name is Liv Wilson.
My passion is to create; in a variety of different outlets. It's my purpose.
I'm from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand and am currently studying my 3rd year of a Bachelors Degree in Creative Practice at EIT Ideaschool.
Here's what I do:
Recently I have taken a strong interest in photography, mostly as a hobby. however I think of graphic design as my baseline and my bread and butter. I have completed a variety of professional jobs in both photography and graphic design including - graphic design work for CLAAS Harvest Centre (Hawkes Bay), Fantail & Turtle bar and eatery (Auckland), photography work for Design Emporium (Hawkes Bay) and have run my own small business, 'wabi sabi' with business partner and brother; Gus Wilson. I have also completed small jobs such as voluntary photographic work at Outfield Festival (Hawke's Bay) and staff photoshoots for Richard Kepka Builders (Hawke's Bay). I have also had various opportunities through local artist Heather Wilson, and Auckland based design company minima. Other jobs have included singles covers for Frankly and Spring Flowers the band. I have completed a logo for Big Buddy (Auckland) as-well, for a golf tournament they had held.
In high school I was awarded with a subject scholarship in Visual Communication (Design).
Last year I was awarded the David Fine Scholarship, which is an award intended for creatives at EIT, either in art or design. Part of this scholarship was holding my own independant exhibition at the Hastings Community Arts Centre (Artsinc.) in Hastings, Hawke's Bay. This is my best achievement to date.
I would say that I specialise in graphic design work, however I am not close minded and am open to creating in different contexts and fields of design. I am incredibly visual as a person. And embrace the process of thinking outside the square (I can't say I even like that saying, because it's a bit niche).
I am a visionary, in the respect that I look for improvement in my work practice and outcomes. Although I haven't studied marketing yet, I have a good head for promoting product. This is evident in my apparel brand marketing. I know how to make product look desirable. And have a good understanding of social media. I appreciate the beauty in difference and divergent thinking. I would not call myself a 'Plain Jane' by any stretch (although my middle name is Jane). And I believe that this translates through in my work. My personality trait is INTJ. I am introverted, but expressive.
